50 cent coffee mug just hit $40 w/6 days left

Picked this mug today for .50 at a local thrift store. It has hit $40 in four hours time with a full week still to go.

Great find. I ran across a partial set of Shenango China in the same pattern a couple weeks ago. I didn't buy because none of the pieces were selling well. While researching those I found out that pieces with logos can go for really good prices.

An early White Castle Shenango mug sold for $2500! Another one sold for $1500. The saucer for Little Tavern Shops sold at $229 so I am definitely looking for more Shenango pieces with a logo!

Restaurant ware sells well. That's why I always check out any I find with a logo. Besides half the fun is researching it. I bought 4 of these Irish coffee mugs not long ago just because I liked the logo and wanted to find out where they came from. http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/what/586797-anyone-recognize-restaurant-logo.html
Ain't worth much but they were worth the chance. They came from the Gaucho room at the Americana Hotel in Miami.

We had a Little Tavern in Silver Springs MD when I grew up there.
Man, I miss those little stomach grenades!
They were very similar to White Castle, but much better.

Great find! I actually do good on the Starbucks mugs. They typically sell for about 20-25 bucks

I'll second the discontinued Starbucks city mugs suggestion, they are modern pieces that are plentiful enough to be likely thrift shop scores and for some reason they have a dedicated collector base (I snobbishly categorize 'em as beanie-baby-tier collectibles that will eventually collapse). Incidentally, my sister-in-law who turns her nose up at my collections of classical antiquities happens to collect those stupid mugs . I recall seeing some "rare" international mugs of the series go for 2-3 grand!
