Nana's buttons motivated me to get my buttons photographed and posted.
I love seeing all the buttons others post, so figured I'd get mine out there too!
These are my 50 Federal Eagle buttons dug from my fav hunting spot. It took me 1 1/2 years to find them all, and my hunting partner probably has just as many! Of course they are in various conditions, from almost new to destroyed! Some have between 75 and 95 percent gilt!
All were dug - and lost between the mid 1860s and the early 1890s here in Montana.
Without telling where I dig, I guarantee the probable history of these buttons is rich in famous lore! I'm not trying to tease, just trying to say how exciting it is to dig them.
Also pictured are some non-uniform or civilian buttons from the same era.
Please enjoy the pictures, and thanks for looking.
