50 tone Vs 5 tones

I know but i do not like 50 tones and that is me and how i feel.

Keppy, Gene was telling you how to set up a 3 tone program on the Equinox not 50 tones. The Equinox only has 2, 5, and 50 tone choices. Dunno if you own an Equinox, but if you are not happy with 5 tones there is a way to set up the Equinox to sound off in only 3 tones if that is your preference using Colonel Dan's setup in post #15 above. He wasn't trying to get you to use 50 tones because 50 tones doesn't work for him either due to hearing issues. Even if you don't own an Equinox it was an oddly defensive retort back to someone who was actually in your corner.

I know what he meant but i like the 5 tones and i use the 5 tones i do not use the 50 tones i do not like them..Why does every one think i should like them you like 50 use 50 i like 5 i will use 5 .. And i still like the single tone on the Tesoro...And i really do like the Garrett 1500 and 2500 with the GTI Imaging and it does show the true target size on the screen.I think Garrett should still use that on there other detectors .

I 100% agree with you that no one should try to impose their detecting techniques on others, but sharing what one does and why they do it is what this forum is about. I wholeheartedly respect and understand why you and others prefer fewer tones because that is what works for you and if it ain't broke, don't fix it, for sure. However, simply expressing a different opinion than yours is not "everyone" thinking you should think the way they do, its just expressing an opinion.

:icon_scratch: If you go back through this thread and actually read it, not one single person in this thread, including me, said that YOU, Keppy, should like 50 tones. If anything, the prevailing opinion was in favor of 5 tones and everyone was just sharing their reasons why they use what they use tone wise.

My position was and always has been that it is good to have settings choices to let the individual decide what works best in response to your statement that the manufacturers were "out of control" by catering to detector "geeks." Never said you should switch to 50 tones. So, if I extend that line of Keppy reasoning, anyone who uses more than 5 tones is geeky, so does that mean you are trying to convince me that I should only like 3 or 5 tones? Well, I certainly did not take it that way, just as you should not think everyone is trying to get you to use 50 tones.

Speaking about geeky features, regarding the GTI imaging feature, I guess Garrett moved away from it because it was not popular with the 3 and 5 tone crowd. Garrett, after all, listens to its loyal customer base and it sounded like they merely wanted a warmed over AT variant so they took a page out of the First Texas playbook, and decided to put lipstick on the AT Pro and called it the AT Max. Definitely the opposite of "out of control."

Well it is what it is .

i run all metal, 50 tones i want to try, i believe in getting more information , just have to get used to more signals, but if i learn to read it and become acustomed to its detail and results , i think it maybe like when you get used to a new language you can understand it even if the native to speaking fast

Might even depend on how fast you want to cover ground. I have many different hunting moods. If I were going to move slow and methodical I think 50 tones would work good.
