Only the second box of quarters I've done and I'm glad I don't just edge search. The majority of the rolls (all but three) were the clear plastic wrapped rolls.

When I do quarters I'm mainly looking for double dies or repunched mintmarks and consider the very difficult to find silver to be a bonus.

Of course I eventually get bored with that and was going nuts this time when I looked through the plastic and saw yet another roll of apparently clad quarters.

Dumped the roll out and began looking for dates with known varieties when I saw 1956 on one of them. You could tell it was silver by looking at the obverse and reverse but the rim had a dirty line around it that made it look clad. I was pleasantly surprised and was glad I don't just edge search for silver even though my way is much more time consuming.

I also found a clad 1966 with a nice reverse die break down from the last "S" in STATES to the eagle's wing and from the bottom of the same wing to the rim. Nothing particularly awesome but I have a soft spot for die breaks.

Happy hunting everyone.

Good job on the '56, I only seem to get 1 silver for every $800 I do.

I have been wanting to try some quarters, but the # of posts from members saying how hard it is to find silver has kept me away. Maybe someday though - My thought is that with everyone saying this, no one at all is searching quarters, so maybe there will be some that gets dumped back in and is recirculated.

What I like about them is the availability - I am sure you can walk into any bank and pick up a box, unlike halves.
