I asked the manager at my bank if I could order the large dollar coins or halves and she said she would check and order whatever she could get. I told her what ever you can get, order only $500.00 worth. Well, she called and said my coins were in. When I get there she brings out 2 bags of IKE dollars. She said if I wanted more just let her know. Ok, I don't know much about Ikes...so if anybody can clue me in on what to look for as a keeper....Please post it here. Thanks in advance for all your help!

I don't think there is anything to really look for on these other than the silver from 1971 - 1976 and proofs from 1971 - 1978. If you have a bunch of bicentennials in nice condition you might think about selling them on ebay a couple of rolls at a time. You might be able to make a few extra bucks.

Yikes! That's a lot of Ikes!! Great find!!! When I was at the bank the other day the teller told me they can't order Ikes anymore. But I've heard enough stories that suggest otherwise. She also said that customers ask for them all the time, so they disappear fast. Ikes are fast becoming a hot item at a grassroots level. It used to be that most professional coin dealers wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole, but that's starting to change a bit. I like Ikes, even though they lack the charming sound and feel of silver (ahhh!), they're so huge! remind me of the Peace and Morgans. Play with a bunch of Ikes for a while and then pick up a quarter. The quarter just seems so tiny. haha. Really great find. Keep an eye out for the 40% silver Ikes!

That is true but, keep your fingers crossed for real silver dollars like Morgans and Peace ;D

I have one teller now trying to get me some.

also if you have a local coin dealer check them out. Mine buys circulated Ikes at 1.07 each. Not much but I accumulate them from the bank and drop them at his store every couple of months. Less hassle than eBay and I sure can't get 7% anywhere else these days :)
