Kyle and I were able to hit the site today that was good to us this past month. We honestly did not think anything was left to dig here. I found a small hot spot that was overlooked by the detecting trio. A nice colonial thimble , shot musketball , an iron do dad , a piece of broken Tombac button and finally a King George III copper popped out of an area the size of an automobile or so.The copper had a strange reading. Before I dug it up I said to Kyle that this target would be a Copper if the green line( high frequency) was predominant. It was one of the only coppers that was red line predominant (mid frequency.)Red usually indicates brass, aluminum. Next week should be better due to impending permission .

nice, funky GIII.
i like it when I'm not expecting a copper because of the reading,
and it turns out to be one. usually happens for me with William III's.
look forward to some KKC posts from the new site you alluded to. :headbang:

I know what you mean. I found a William III that read low a couple of weeks ago.

Great job, Zeus, on hitting another Colonial copper at this site. It is actually our 12th Colonial from this field. :hello2: We must all hit a new site hard next Sunday. :hello2: :headbang:

Sweet stuff Chris

Every once and awhile I'll get "squirrely" signals that I normally wouldn't dig but because
of the area I'm hunting but, I'll dig them anyway and most often, I'm glad I did.

(Glad to see you're still showing the nephews a thing or three :D )

Nice finds! Looks like you guys are getting close to tapping that spot out...looking forward to the posts from the next site!

I like the thimble. congrats

Never found a thimble with an open top like that. With that in mind some have found more in a day than I have all together at 4.

5 coppers isn't bad for a site especially when there have been 7 more found. No doubt you can still squeeze one more out of it. If you have more sites to explore I'd do that though, you can always go back. I like to explore new sites, and keep the better producing ones in reserve for when no new ideas come to mind.

Those old timers didn't have a lot of coin to loose, I also think they were no doubt careful with the coin that they did have, and the Silver that everyone "thinks is on their site" often is just not there.

Good luck out there.

Great job on the copper there Chris,Best of Luck to you and the guy's
