Bit warmer today but still a nice breeze & the ground is still wet.
This will be our last day on this field because although we have only gridded 30% of it, we believe it's the most productive area. So we need to move on & find another hotspot before the Barley comes in.
5 Hours:

11 Scrappies (pretty good for this field)
18th C Militia Button
2 Lead Tokens
Bronze Age Axe Tip
5 hammered (not a pretty bunch!):
  1. Scottish Eighth Thistle-Merk - James VI
  2. Henry III Cut Half
  3. Bust up Lizzy Penny
  4. Broken Penny of Edward I?
  5. Cut Half Penny Short Cross of Bad King John8-)

Just missing the Iron Age & Saxon, but we are happy enough. I just hope our next explore finds something.

You covered a lot of history on the hunt, nicely done on the Short Cross half.

You got neolithic flint there? With that long occupation iron age is just a question of time. Saxon not sure. You have way more knowledge with this folks tha we have here.

Some flint wasters but no tools yet, so they were there.
