Did a quick hunt today, went back to the silver fields. Had a fun couple of hours. The prize for the day is this Baseball Mitt. I laughed my butt off.
This is so cool, it has rivets in it.
Im thinking 1920s??? Nothing newer then a 1920 wheat has come out..
Any insight on age would be appreciated.
Thanks George .
Ps, I have it sitting in distilled water,
Anyone know how to persevere the leather? Thanks

Wow that's awesome!!!!! Can't say I've ever heard of anyone finding an antique baseball mitt!

I just looked through the first 2 pages and thought " Where the heck is Vino? No posts on 2 pages? Something is wrong here!". I commented on BigWaveDave's post and there you were, back in form:tongue3:
That's a cool old mitt George.

Unbelievable George... an old baseball glove in incredible condition. Haha Looking forward to hearing how you end up preserving it. In the meantime I'm voting banner on it. Never seen someone dig a baseball glove before... and in great condition too. Oh yeah, nice silvers and indians too

Thanks Brad,
The soil there is very kind. Look how nice them IHs are, there still chocolate brown.

I'd say you hit a home run with that hunt:laughing7: I have one just about like it , mine is a Bob Feller mitt from the late 1930s. Yours is likewise a split finger glove, which I believe predates WW2 but yours could be a tad bit older. Very cool.

Congrats on pulling those 8 keepers George. I wish I could tell you how to preserve the glove. The only thing that comes to mind is mink oil.

Who else can actually say they got a mitt full of silvers, good one! Liking the piece.

VINO I SEE NOW YOU ARE INTO BASEBALL AND WHAT A NICE BUNCH OF FINDS . OH TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME , NEVER MIND ...

Congrats on the coin saves and that ball glove is a beauty. Hope you can come up with a way to preserve it

6 silvers. Nice hunt... It rained here all friggin day.......

A baseball mitt really dont know what to even say about that, you got a great store , nice find

Good deal George, looks like a fun day. How did you find the mitt? Was it fully buried in dirt, or a muddy area? That's crazy, neat find!

It was about 6inches under. The rivets on it hit just like a nickle..
Thanks Mike.

Nice catch! I bet that was a Phillies glove there Georgie. Wait, what time is it?!....Ugh oh, better not say much more. Killer find and silvers buddy.

Cool mitt, now that's something you don't see everyday
