$600K gold buried near Monterrey, Mexico

Anyone know what happened to Attorney Renchart's attempts in the early 1900s to secure an agreement with the Mexican government to allow his client to search & extract a cache of buried gold near Monterrey, Mexico? Apparently, the gold was buried by ex-Confederate US soldiers who turned into bandits in Mexico. They robbed a mine pack train.

The value of that cache would be $63+ million today in just bullion value alone.

Anyone from Monterrey, Mexico here?

Hello! I’m actually from the area and have heard similar stories of that treasure being buried somewhere in the mountains of Monterrey, do you have any more information on this topic?

Before you get started, you may wish to consider this:
Monterrey's population in 1900 was 50k; even less in the 1860s. Today's population is over 5 million; seond in US populated cities only to NYC @ 8.5M (Los Angeles at 4.0M). If the treasure still exists, it's probably buried under a street, structure or concrete.
