7.5kHz all-arounder, 18.75kHz for gold, so what's the 3kHz for (X-Terra)?

Just curious......

As I understand it, the 7.5kHz is the good all around performing coil. 18.75kHz is for gold.

So what is the motivation for an X-Terra 70/705 user to get a 3kHz coil?
What's THEIR niche?

Thanks!

The 3Khz coil is the one to have for finding silver and copper. Plus the low frequency is less sensitive to iron so it is more enjoyable to use in iron heave areas.

Using all metal I feel that the 3KHz offers a distinct dropoff in tone on iron. I use 99 tones with it. Plus to me it has the same dropoff/warble with pulltabs.

also, lower khz penetrate deeper into the soil but is less sensitive to gold and smaller targets such as bb's. the higher khz are more sensitive to smaller targets and gold but may not penetrate as deeply. (theoretically) that's why some gold machines operate at 15 khz or higher and most general use detectors for coin and relic hunting operate somewhere between 4 and 10 kilohertz.

dang, i said the same thing as a minelab technician :o I wonder if they're hiring :icon_pirat:
