The Beta Hunt gold mine near Kambalda has coughed up another whopper gold specimen, worth $7 million at yesterday’s Australian spot gold price.Canadian-based RNC Minerals on Thursday revealed the miner had unearthed an estimated 3200 ounces of coarse gold. The specimen was found just 30 metres north of the Father’s Day Vein, where the miner made a bonanza gold find that raised eyebrows across the world just over 12 months ago.It marks another stunning find for the once unloved asset that was tipped in May last year to fetch $15-$20 million after the then cash-strapped RNC put it on the market. But just as RNC was closing in on a deal the miner made worldwide headlines after an airleg miner uncovered a “living room-sized” cut of rock containing what ultimately transpired to be an amazing 30,000 ounces of gold in September last year.Dubbed the Father’s Day Vein, the discovery was more than double the 13,320oz RNC mined for the June quarter.
