Got my Nox 600 4 days ago, rained 2 then practiced in yard, headed for N Hutchinson Island yesterday.
lugged tools towels water to beach, timed it 1 hr before low- 3 pm.
Got everything turned on in beach 2
Tried to look cool as there were a few people on the beach even tho all parking closed except side of a1a..
Decided to work as low as possible which meant dodging little waves.....This is right around where millions in 1715 treasure has been recovered.
DING DING DING I get a nice signal but I cant put the detector down in the little waves and receding water, and all I have is a digging knife so I scratch out a deep x with my foot, run up the beach 15' put down the detector run back and the x is gone.
Go back with the detector over and over....no more dings.....
OK down the beach I go about 10 yards and DING DING DING
This time I am determined not to lose the spot and I brace for an unusually larger wave, and the screw falls out of the arm cuff (guess I didn't tighten enough) and the cuff falls in two pieces right when this gushing little whitewater wave comes by and I have to chase one piece towards shore and finally catch it with the detector disk, then run back for the other half which was getting out too deep.
I don't know what my fellow beach going observers where thinking but I continued to act like a pro just having a bad day...…..
I managed to detect a little more just resting the back of the pole under my arm but stayed upland and found a pop top and a gorgeous thick 3" pierce of stainless wire so thick I can't bend it!
More later from the 1715 Fleet Wrecks on the beach.
