Another day for Indians it was. Hunted with Ed and toward the end of the day Gary came to detect, so we were all taking advantage of a mild day in January.

My first coin was an 1874 IHC. Then came the medal. Third good target was the plated button. After a food break, Ed suggested we move to a different area. We detected on opposite sides of the lower walkway. I got a hit that turned out to be two IHCs laying like pancakes, an 1864 and 1891; the obverse of the 1891 was against the reverse of the 1864. Think of the odds of someone having those two cents and then dropping them at the same time! Along this same walkway came a very toasty United Railways token and another IHC, a 1900.

With the coins taken today, that's 8 IHCs for 2017.

I saw you, but didn't know it was u Mike, or else i would come over to see how u was doing. That area is always active, my daughter is 2 and my son is 5, yes they were really enjoying that nice 70 degree weather. Here is a picture of the Cufflink or Button that says " Plated " what do u think? 15977309_368439503513309_3580147291566777818_n.jpg 15895148_368439530179973_6256849064918589342_n.jpg

Congrats! I headed up your way later but came up empty. Think I may go elsewhere for awhile. How old are your children. They looked like they were enjoying the time out. You did very well considering you were balancing childcare and detecting!

Lilo, that penny is awesome. Plated button is in rare condition; too bad shank is missing. You were hunting a very difficult area, lots of square nails and modern trash. Certainly was great weather to be out.
Happy hunting!

Thanks Silvermonkey! Much easier to be a year-round hunter here in central Maryland. No hard freeze yet.
Happy Hunting!

Thx RambleOn! I was at this same park with another detectorist on Thursday and he pointed out an area to me where he's pulled all kinds of nickels. This was a very popular area for public picnics and other activities since the late 1800s. People dropped many coins. Most the silver was taken in the 70s and 80s, but there are still old targets, as you see.

Thank Tommy G! We've had a great run of January weather here in Baltimore. Enough rain to keep the signals singin'!
