Hi to all!

Managed to get out before the rains came back. It rained all night too. I think the rain saturated woodchips makes my detector work better because I had a ton of good finds today.

Detected for four hours total, three different school woodchipped play areas. Pulled in a lot of coins, 155 coins for $ 12.67 total clad.

A lot of keepers too. Some nice jewelry.

A sweet 10kt ring with 4 diamond chips. Nice little ring that looks really old to me. Some kind of ribbon or flower design?

I also dug a huge 925 ring that is bent up, heavy.

I guess I should go to church more because I found two more crosses today. One pretty gold one with Jesus on the cross hallmarked 585 Italy and also a silver 925 hallmarked cross.

I also got one tiny 925 earring and a 925 clasp from a chain.

An interesting pendant, 925 with a stone "tooth" shape thingie, highly polished. It's pretty cool.

Today was also a chain day. I found 5 of them. One is a nice handmade beading one with handblown glass beads and sterling clasps. Another silver colored bracelet is hallmarked "Monet" and "patented".

The other chains are junk jewelry, one with a pendant and one with heart and cross charms. Also picked up about 15 other junk jewelry pieces, pendants, rings, and broken jewelry pieces.

A great day out there makes up for the hell week I had at work this week. I hope you all get out this weekend too. Best of luck, thanks for reading!

Here's some photos and scans of todays finds.

Smiles!

Re: Great day, golds and silvers

Congratulations on the great haul. I always look forward to your posts, many great finds there. Woodchips are much better than most hard ground indeed. Most ground here is very hard and hard to get that many digs in 4 hours.

I went out late late last night and believe it or not found an area with loads of traffic that has probably been never detected before. It was only made within the last 17 years so probably no silver or old coinage, however could perhaps be a little bit of jewelry.

I dug for 4 hours into the night and came up with $4.35 most all dimes, nickels. I have only covered less than 5% and quickly ran detector over other ground to see coin hits all over.

Just wish it was sand or woodchips. LoL its not super hard ground, but hard enough.

Congratulations on the great finds,

Great finds Bdoo! I just found out there are over 70 city playgrounds in the town where I work and I have the street addresses where they all are. Unfortunately, the German parks and playgrounds don't give up much but are always a fun hunt. HH and congrats on the gold, Mike

Hi DJ

I move pretty quick and only cover the woodchip areas so it's fast and easy "digging", more like flipping. When I finish covering the ENTIRE woodchip area (s), I drive to the next school.

As I have mentioned before, when I search the woodchip play areas, I use an old Garrett TR machine and dig everything (hundreds of trash digs and recoveries too) but this machine is fast responding, easy to use and pinpoint, so speed and area covered for me equals more finds.

There are probably 200 elementary schools within 30 miles of my house here. These were about 11 miles away. The first school I searched is where I had the majority of my finds. Their website says they have 693 students. That's a lot for one K through 5th grade school. The other schools had fresh woodchips down but I searched anyway as they were matted down nicely from the first week of school starting and the rain last night. I found the gold ring at the third school and the silver ring and both crosses at the first school. The gold cross was dirctly under a steel slide right at the bottom about 6 inches up, the silver cross in an open area between a play structure and a swingset, the silver ring by a swingset but right at the edge against the timber border. The gold ring was lost this week I think as it was under a swing and just barely covered by the woodchips and was perfectly clean.

Thanks for the read and comment!

Thanks my friend!

Yes, I am spoiled by the easy digging in the woodchips for sure. I will be getting out soon for some "real" treasure hunting ...lol as it will rain more now and the ground will soften up.

Sounds like you have found yourself a great area to search. It is rare to find a virgin place these days that produces. Best of luck there. I see some gold in your future!!
