Had plans to check out an older area yesterday but haven't yet gotten permission. So it was on to Plan B. Started off in an area I've hit before, and it was slow going. Did manage a couple of wheats and a small sterling band (0.6 grams). Moved to another I haven't hit yet and within a few minutes three wheat cents came out. That's promising!

Monster lead seal? Can anyone ID what it was for?

Ended with 188 coins in all. That's a lot of digging.
I'm thinking the big lead piece has something to do with the railroad as several small seals were found in the area, but I have no idea what it would be used for.
