🔎 UNIDENTIFIED A 2 Ring Minie Ball

So I came across this minie ball down if far south PA. It might be a 2 ring confederate minie ball, and my caliper says its a .54" diameter. Anybody able to confirm?

It looks like a sharps bullet just a guess

agree with previous post…..not a Minnie ball, but a sharps carbine bullet. This bullet should have a flat base, Minnie ball would have hollow base.

There are multiple types of carbine bullets, and multiple styles of sharps. Someone else may be able to provide finer details.

No worries. Although you are right that did sort of mistakenly call this a minie ball. I should have just said it was a bullet.

Thanks for providing a closeup photo of your bullet's base. It confirms the ID proposed by Savinghistoryalway and NCSUwolf...an unfired civil war era yankee .52-caliber Sharps bullet.

Well that's very interesting. This spot used to be located along the National Road. Probably lots of Union soldiers in the area.
