Last week I went across town to pick up payroll from our CPA. It's a bi-weekly ritual that is rarely different visit to visit. I walk in, say "Hi!" to the cuties in the office and leave with a single manila envelope.

This time as I left and walked to my car I noticed our business name on the envelope was in quite a different handwriting than usual; sort of big, round youthful writing. Interesting, but whatever, I put it in my carry-all and drove to work.

As I got to work I gathered my things and happened to glance again at the envelope. It had no writing on it! I was dumbfounded. I sat there for about five minutes thinking I was losing it. I didn't just imagine I saw writing on it, I did see writing! I know I did because it was distinctly different. :icon_scratch:

I take no mind-altering substances (drugs, booze) heck, I don't even drink coffee! The most amusing/plausible explanation I've gotten is they used disappearing ink. :D

So whaddya think? Is this early-onset...something?

I could be that you are so used to seeing something written on it that your mind Filled in the gap. If you were tired or preoccupied, and or under stress your mind is more likely to do this. Or you some how jumped into an almost identical reality some how...

Did you check both sides of the envelope?

Repeatedly... :D

Prank . . . Kinda like the stuff I use for sealing envelopes here.

It is bright purple, like the ink in the old pricing machines, when it is put on. After about 5 minutes, there is NO TRACE of color on the envelope.

Everyone else here, either uses water or licks (YUK!!!) the envelopes. The girls have commented to me about the condition of my envelopes in the "outbox" by the sales counter.

"They've got ink all over them, and I got some on my white blouse while handling them!" So, I tell them I'll be there when I finish my call. I wait 5 minutes and ask whichever one called: "Where's the ink at?" When she can't find it. I dig out my envelopes, by then they're clean as a whistle.

I get more strange looks now than ever. They haven't a clue.

BTW, costs a quarter a stick when Wally World has them on sale. You can find them in the school supplies.

I cover the labels with electrical tape.

Well it worked on me! Sounds like the best solution short of senility. Thanks Smee.

Was the writing on the envelope purple?

I honestly didn't notice.

If you still have the envelope, put it under a blacklight and see if anything shows.
