A button on the inside???

Winter is here. The ground is frozen. I am bored So anyway I started to sort out my finds and organize them. Along with that comes the preserving of all the iron relics that I have found over this past summer. Here is a piece that I found along with all the Civil War relics. I was told that it was a piece that you put inside your shirt to fasten it, sort of like a button on the inside. Here are my before and after restoration pics. Any thoughts on what it could be?

Its to big to be an inside button. Could be a curtin hanger and kinda looks familiar. I'm sure someone will ID it for you.
