I was out searching the curb strips again after work. I was almost back to the car and I had found 1 wheat penny and 59 cents in clad. I get a decent signal and see the reeded edge of a silver quarter in the plug. I am wondering what year Washington it will be. I brush off the back and much to my surprise it has the wrong eagle on it. It is a 1858 seated Liberty in nice condition! I went my first 9 months of detecting without finding any coins from the 1800's, now I have found 2 from the 1850's in the last week!

Curb strips can be silver honey holes.. You just gotta find the right area and search it quickly while you still can.. :icon_thumright:

Of the 9 silver coins I have found this year, 7 of them have been along curb strips.

Awesome Seated Quarter! Looks to be in great shape too! Congrats!

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but by "curb strip" do you mean the little strips of land between streets or along sidewalks? That kind of thing? Because I've thought of hunting those too!

Awesome find Reed. You don't see that many Seated quarters posted. Great find for sure!

great find. Justin time for xmas.don't drink and drive you might spill your drink

Yep, I search the section between the sidewalk and the street curb. I don't bother if people have planted additional vegetation but anyplace that looks untended I consider fair game.

Great find--I'm looking to work some sidewalk strips myself. They seem like they hold much potential...
