A Coin you don't see everyday: 1890 Ceylon Quarter Cent!

Found this a couple days ago and just got around to cleaning it. Actually thought it was a button at first because of the design around the edges. Took the crud off and saw Queen Victoria. Don't recall any Canadian coins being that small, especially when "Quarter Cent" appeared. It's an 1890 Quarter Cent from Ceylon, which was later renamed Sri Lanka.

Mintage looks to only be 200,000, but not much value. It's really cool to be doing this for so long and still find new things like this. Just wanted to share. HH all!

Oddball coins like that one make you wonder how it got there and who dropped it in the first place! I found an early 1800's Ottoman Turks coin last year in the woods across the street from my home! The only other coin I ever found there was a 1916 buffalo nickel! How weird is that?

Here is my 1945 Ceylon cent found in a park here in SW Florida...you are right, a strange find from such a small obscure country
