Here's something different for your perusal. Last Sunday, I found an artist-cut quarter pendant, or love token, in an old lawn of a middle school twenty miles north of my house. First one for me. It has the "Key to my heart" theme.

Yesterday, I went to a different middle school fifteen miles south of my house and MD'ed the old football field in the pouring rain, (ATPro proved its salt,) and found TWO more artist-cut quarter pendants! The "Miami University" themed pendant is amazing. The other love token one has a "Two Interlocking Hearts" theme.

Would have been sweeter if the three were made from silver quarters, but I am not complaining. Makes me wonder if the shop/art teachers 20 years ago were pushing coin-cutting projects, or kids were getting these at local fairs or carnivals.

Thanks for looking, Happy Hunting and have a blessed Memorial Day. Sub 8-)

Nice, I guess that challenge is to find the 2nd half of the item now ! :laughing7: Still interesting items tho :occasion14:

Really neat finds! Now get out there and find the other matching side!

Awesome repurposed coins! Neat find!

Maybe you can find the shop teacher or others who can answer your question.

Man! That just burns me! Why do people have to go and carve up a perfectly good clad quarter!?!? Ain't
they got anything better to do!? ;)

Excellent Subby ole boy!

Great finds Sub. First time I have seen those. I always thought defacing money was a crime? If that's so, it may be hard getting a teacher to incriminate themself, lol.

That's pretty cool

Very cool stuff man

Really cool items that somebody took a LONG time with, Sub. I remember my sister cut a bunch of merc dimes in the 60s. Just left the rim and the head of Mercury.

Very cool and the fact you found a few in a short time..!

Grats on the very cool finds! I love interesting "keeper" finds like that. To me, finds like these are the spice of this great hobby.

Wow... those are killer... three of them no less. Good show Sub!

I was told long ago that if an artist renders a coin MORE valuable as a piece of art than it is worth face value, then it is permitted by federal law. Obviously, that would be in the eyes of the seller and buyer. Sub 8-)

Boy howdy it would take alot of patience to sit with a magnifier and thin-bladed Coping saw for hours, meticulously planning and cutting away at these coins. As for quarters, I have a love/hate relationship with them. Always wishing that 83-89 VDI signal on the ATPro will be your next silver ring or pendant, only to find a brown quarter in the hole. But the dollar amount of your clad adds up quickly for gas money or charity with quarters! Sub 8-)

Very Cool . Never found one of those.
