That is way cool! I just got an Ex II Saterday. I went out Sunday with it for the 1st time (my birthday) and 1st target I dug was a 1955 Wheaty in very good con. That is also the year I was born I think I am gonna like the Minelab! Cladius.

Don, great find. I don't think I would come down for a week. I agree with Ted. Don't leave that field. You can never tell what else might be out there. Great fantastic find. Congratulations...Lance

congradulations from texas

What a wonderful find, I would keep detecting the area, and when you can't dig any more because you are tired, bring some one with you who can :D

Wow. Just going through my red book 2004 trying too match up the coin type. Congrats. That's just an amazing find. One of the first U.S. coins ever minted.

It looks like there were a number of Oak Tree and Pine tree coins made in a variety of handmade dies. Some of them look very similar in the book. Let us know if you get more info on the coin and what you plan to do with it. Envy, envy, envy.

Congrats on a great find Don. That one coin will probably pay for your Minelab with change left over. Looks like a large planchet shilling with pellets at the trunk. Can't see the rest well enough to clarify more.
Redbook value= good-$450, very good-$800, fine-$1600,
very fine-$3200..

Great find.

HH

Very nice,
Did you know what it was when you pulled it out of the ground? I know I would not have. I've never seen a shilling before now.

I put it into a google search and found alot of info on it.Nothing that goes below VF condition though. From the pic I seen of a VF ,you are not too far off. Should be worth some cha ching.

I also found a post about one on this forum from 5 years ago.

Exceptional find! I'd take it to a few coin dealers to get an appraisal, but don't take your eye off it while they are looking at it. Boy, if I ever found one of those I'd never sell it! Good going!

W&ET Magazine would probably pay for an article on how you found it, and with what kind of detector. That IS really special!

Awesome find!!!! I agree, work that field until you pass out!!!

Rich

That's hitting the big silver! Great job!

I think I'd still be cleaning my pants out.
That one should be certified by PCGS.
Great job, well done!
The newbies always find the best stuff, .... WAH!

Great Find! I wouldn't care if I did look like a fool after finding that! I probably still would be dancin'! I do agree with lab rat, you should contact W&ET magazine, along with Lost Treasure, I'm sure they would love to do a story on that one.

The new issue just came out and there is a "best Finds 2004" page in the issue. Fill it out and send it in.

HOLY MOLY! YOU WOULD HAVE TO CARRY ME OFF IN A STRETCHER IF I FOUND THAT!
