A Few Artifacts

I stopped by a friends house yesterday. He’s a big time collector and has a whole building full of artifacts and geological specimens. I only shot a few pics.

This is one of the largest Thebes points ever found in IL. There are at least two larger out there.

This is a jaw bone of either a mammoth or mastodon. It was dug near Chicago by a construction company yrs ago and was displayed in their office. My friend purchased it when the business finally closed.

That is a great collection. I'm pretty sure that's a Mastodon jaw.

Those all look like Midwest points. The ones you are asking about are Dovetails that have been ground down to drills/preforators. Dovetails were used as knives.

May be late to the party but I agree mastodon, they had teeth that were a series of cones while mammoth where more flat and washboard like… if I’m remembering correctly the teeth are where the name mastodon came from
