Nice photographs! Thanks for sharing...

Ron, where were these pictures taken? Bumblebees are something I've not seen up here in Idaho. I had not really thought about it until now. I don't think you took these in Oregon.

nice pictures. They do have some wild looking little faces on them. The garden loves them.We mostly have the bumble bees around here ,and we could use some more!Didn't see many at all last year and the garden didn't produce much.It is doing much better this year and i have noticed it looks like more bees are around pollinating. Thanks for the view

These were taken in western Washington about 90 miles south of Seattle. We have them in Oregon also, but not sure how many varieties of bumble bee's there are. Seems like I've seen them with more yellow on them.

Here's a picture of the Bumble bees we have here (NM), maybe this is the kind you were thinking of with "more yellow"? I've not seen the kind that you posted the nice pictures of here. I guess you guys know that the Big "BB's" are the females?

Thanks for sharing this. I didn't know the females were larger, and this one you posted is the type I was thinking about.

I know here on the coast we also have a smaller variety called mountain bumble bees....I have a nest in the back yard! They are mellow.

Back in Texas, we had what we called 'cedar bees'. They looked a lot like bumblebees, but had no stingers. I've been riding on bicycles and have one hit me in the face. I've actually 'wrecked' because I thought I was going to get stung and was fighting to get it off me, causing me to run off the road. lol They didn't have much yellow color on them.
