A few examples of effigies, human & animal plus primitive art

first are a couple of Mayan human head effigies, both were pendants, one possibly ritually killed, or just broken, lol.
second is not NA, but pretty cool. an Anatolian bull effigy made of cast copper, about 5,000 yrs old
third is also not NA, but Australian Aborigine. it is an abalone single hole gorget(broken, reglued :()
it has a drawing on it depicting a scene of a flea chasing after a kangaroo. part of their dreamtime myths.

Re: A few examples of effigies, human & animal plus primitive art

Listen guys! I am a rank amateur when it comes to the many aspects of AIA's. I love to show my meager finds as I go through this learning process. I have learned much through reading and studying books and gaining knowledge from noted experts and those of you that have put in the time. You started out the same way, I am sure. I need you to continue to help me. I feel your frustrations here. I too cannot "see" the validity of the "rocks", and if I understand the qualifying characteristics of what constitutes modifications of a natural substance by man, at my knowledge level, then I really do know what you are going through.

So, for my sake and other newbies here, please know that you are really valuable here. I am one of those that has asked to view other items in the "vast collection", and I patiently wait for this to occur.

Thanks for all your help and schooling. I appreciate it!

Re: A few examples of effigies, human & animal plus primitive art

i think that most of the problem here was kneedeeps reaction to some criticism by some of the more knowledgeable people on this site and then his inability to back it up....my understanding (and i still consider myself a newbie) is if you post something and ask what people think then you have put yourself out there and should accept peoples opinions and expert views whether you agree or not....and if asked to show proof as to whether an object is what it is then proof should be forthcoming...not only to prove your point but to teach others that there is something else out there we didnt know about....look at airborne80.....he posts everything triangular he can find....he has lots of legitimate finds and lots of obvious geofacts...but he accepts our opinions and takes it as a learning experience and enjoys himself in the process...i look at anyones opinion here as an attempt to help and educate me and not an attempt by them to make me look stupid.......ok enough ranting.....just my 2 cents
