Well its settled...I am an odd duck...I am part of the 1% that think you have a mighty cool collection....

Trusty, you have a good eye for guns. Yes it is. It has an octagonal barrel and is stamped 'Winchester Repeating Arms'. With the dates of March 18 and Oct 16, 18?0. I can't make out the 3rd number in the date. Maybe you could help me out on that one. I never found a gun until I found that one two years ago at a lumber camp and 4 days later I found the octagonal gun barrel above it at a house site.

guess I fall into that one percent too..you have some awesome finds..and I love em

Excellent display. Alot of things I recognize as its the same stuff I dig. Very nice display...that building sure wont blow away with all that iron. Thanks for sharing ...its awesome

I love the way you have displayed your collction. The contrast of colors really shows it off. It would be creapy to be chased through there at night though. ;) Looks like a room from Jason with all those hooks.

Well, I can't say I know enough about the history of the items to fully appreciate them, but what I can say is: That's a whole mess of cool stuff!!!!

Nice finds

HH - Ted

All of the old house's we hunt around weren't built from straw....Hard working bunch of people back then.Thank's for sharing.....HH!!

oooooooo, I LOVE the CHAINS!! oh, sorry ... should have said that out loud...

Thanks for sharing! Great stuff!

I really appreciate this post, lumbercamp...even though I have no idea what most of that stuff was used for. ??? The contrast between the white walls and shelves and the relics is stunning.

What are these thingies that look like duck's heads?? ::)

Around here they're called goose necks or log retarders. They were placed in log slides with the pointed end up to slow the logs down when they got going to fast. Only trouble was they chewed the logs up pretty bad. I have found quite a few broken ones from the force of the logs breaking them.

That is an awesome collection, I love metal detecting lumbercamps, what part of the country are ya from?

Seger98, I'm from north central Penna. And thanks to all the nice comments from everyone. I wasn't sure if people were really interested in these kind of relics. TreasureTales, I don't think they used spring boards in this part of the country. I have never seen one in any photos or read about them being used here. They must be more of a western item.

If iron hits gold prices.....you can retire!! ;D

First of all awesome stuff. Your 1% is getting higher I think. LOL I have a question did you know where the old lumber camps were or did you have a source to find them I would love to find some stuff like that.

irons? who'da thunk it! awesome collection.

Littlebird13, I have no idea where the lumber camps are located. I pick a run or hollow that i haven't been to and start walking. The last two days I found 5 and dug 4. I will go back and dig the 5th when I have more time. A year ago or so I replied to someone else how I find lumber camps, but I don't know how to bring the post up. Maybe someone else can do it.
