Here's a couple of axes that I have from Missouri. The first big one I just recently got from the great grandson of the finder. It was found while plowing behind a horse. It was found in a field near the Moreau River in Cole County, Missouri over 100 years ago. It's 8" long x 4.5" tall and weighs about 6 lbs. It's a classic "high dome" style 3/4 groove axe.
The smaller axe is about 3 7/8" long and is made of a pretty black and white speckled diorite. It is pictured in the Keokuk axe book by Bruce Filbrandt on page # 395.
