FANTASTIC pictures how did you get so close or was it telephoto lens ?

I was about 30 feet away. Used my Nikon D-5200 with Nikon 200-500 zoom lens on the 500 mm setting. I hope to upgrade to a Nikon Z7 ii in the near future.
