Went last night to a site we had been trying to get permission to hunt for months. As usual, it had already been hunted and picked mostly clean...... :'(

I did manage to find a few little things to keep. The V Nickel is my first ever!!!!! The Merc is in pretty good shape as is the wheat penny.

The ring was between 8 and 10 inches deep. Not much of a find but still cool.

Thanks for looking.

I am still getting used to the depth and great "see-through" abilities on my Etrac. Isn't it great?

Nice old coinage! What does that tag say? Looks interesting.. Is it a cosmetic tag of some sort?

Ahh,the enjoyment of a new detector! Nice going,Larry.I have never found a V nickel, although I can remember getting them pretty regular in my change when I was a kid and only thought, great another ice cream cone!

The small tag I found says:

Companion to CREMEELCAYA then at the bottom it says *AMES C Crane, N.Y. Not sure what letter goes in the * spot.

WSD I think BB has found three of the V Nickels, that is my first EVER. It is in really good shape I didn't get a shot of the back.

Windage: I love the E-trac. I especially like the fact that on 4 occasions now I have gone behind BB and dug coins out of holes he pulled iron out of but not the coins. And I don't care what he tries to tell you that has really happened.

Yes I am pretty sure that is what it says. But I'm confused by the "Companion to Creme Elcaya" Not sure what that means. Looking at the info I can find though this product was around 1911-1915?

nice V, and other finds!!! nickles have there own sound.. and u will be finding lots of em soon!!! MR TUFF

Mr Tuff I was worried about that because on one of the forums I saw where someone was having trouble finding nickels. I have already found 4 (including the V nickel) on the two hunts I have been on. I think you are right, I think I may be finding more of them soon......

You mean like the one I dug out of the hole you dug a couple of nights ago, after you retrieved the iron in the hole???? BTW thanks for clearing up the iron makes things a LOT easier, I mean a LOT! :P ::) :tongue3: :laughing9: :laughing7:

You need to change from MasterEagle to MasterE-trac I think. WTG my friend.

ME, you dug some nice coins there Bud!! Those "V" nickels don't show up that often. Congrats on your first. Since we can't hunt CW relics right now, I hunted an old home site close to home last Sunday and dug a 1883 "V" nickel myself. HH, Quindy.
