Not exactly on anyone's bucket list, but I finally pulled a Kennedy half out! I've found silver dollars, a gold dollar, a 3-cent piece... but just now a Kennedy half. Anybody else found these tough to get? Curious if I've just been missing a common one or if it is an elusive piece. Thanks mates!

I think the easiest answer would be that due to the size of them, they were easy to find if dropped, and less likely to be lost. I've found a few (all clad ones), but they certainly are few and far between!

I have found a couple (clad) over the years....would gladly trade them for a 3 Cent piece.

Dug this one up 3 years ago010.webp009.webp

Thanks :) How did you enlarge the Pix. ?

I did a "reply with quote" and the magic happened all by itself. :laughing7:

I used to find more than I do today. Not a popular coin to carry and more people are using plastic rather than change make it harder to find in the wild too. A harder one to find these days is the Ike dollar. I've found more Morgan dollars than Ike's!

Same with me! I've found 3 Morgans over the years but no Ikes I can recall. I've got a couple of Sacagawea and SBA coins, but I don't think those Ike coins were popular or much used in circulation.

I have found one Ike dollar but no Morgans.

I have found several clad Kennedys back when I used to hunt yards.

I've dug three morgan dollars as well. Also, one Ike. On half dollars, I have a 1968 40% but no 1964's. I've dug two franklin halves and many walkers. I've dug a bunch of clad half's.

I DON'T HAVE A GOLD DOLLAR, YET!

Grats on the monkey now off your back and my guess is you will find at least one more half dollar this year.

Thanks for the post! HH ALL

I see gold coins posted here, but mine didn't come out of the ground like theirs! Still, it's an 1849 and it's gold, and I found it! :skullflag:

I've found many more large cents than Kennedy halves.

I've found four halves, 2 WL, 1 Ben and 1 Clad Kennedy.
Detecting an old park, my FIL found an Ike, then I found a Turks and Caicos 5pound coin that was larger than the Ike.

I get lot more in water than land - probably like 10 clad and 3 silver over the yrs

Well ... I've found a total of (26) Kennedy Half's - (8) of them were a "pocket spill" inside a six foot diameter area - not one Silver in all of them ! :BangHead:

Nice!!!! Congrats!!!!
