Received my new Overstreet book a few days ago and was tickled to see one of my submitted pieces was accepted. Picture was kinda poor so here are some old but clearer pics.I put this piece on the old PROS site but have never shown it anywhere else. Found this in early 80's at a private ranch. All that was sticking out was about an inch of the base. Pulled it out and nearly peed my pants. I knew exactly what it was though I had never seen a whole one.Haskett are extremely rare to find undamaged. We find some bases and they are nowhere in particular like a possible camp.I feel very fortunate to have found this one, it is a very fine perfect example. It has classic percussion clam shell flaking with very heavily ground basal edges. It is a little over 7" and made of a grey obsidian though some have suggested dacite. One of my favorite pieces for sure.

That's as good as any Artifact gets. The workmanship and size on it is incredible for its age. Its hard to be sure from the pictures but appears to have been re-sharpened along the way to which would have probably made its original length approach the monster Haskett from Utah. I've been lucky to find a few over the years but none of that size. Congrats on a find of a lifetime!!

Thanks Pointblank. I too have a few and bases and one that is missing the stem. Probably should gather stuff up and make a new post.

Congratulations on having it published, thanks for sharing it.I can only imagine the thrill of pulling that out of the ground, its just a g10 smoker

Thanks tnmudman.Love that suspense when they are mostly covered.

Beautiful piece, Welsbury!! You'll never forget the moment you found it!!

Just think, I stayed our at the ranch during the summers of '67 & "68. My partner in crime and me wouldn't pick up an arrowhead if we stumbled over it. All we did was get drunk and terrorize the area. My wife said I could have had a collection almost as good as Badorek's. Oh well, hind site is 20/20. Tell your Sis and Bro-in-law hey for me...
