This afternoon I had to run an errand to a nearby small town This town has a nice park with a large tot lot, which I have hit a couple of times before without results.
I decided to take my detector and spend a little while checking it out again
When I arrived it was threatening rain and the place was deserted. which I was happy to see. I don't mind detecting on occupied beaches for obvious reasons
but will not detect a tot lot in use.
I swung around a climbing/sliding apparatus for about 15 minutes, and found a few coins and a little foil.
Then I moved over to the swing set, reasoning that if any equipment would cause someone to lose jewelry, this would be it.
Within three minutes, I got a nickel signal just at the place where someone would stand to push a person who was on the swing. Rock solid signal. "For sure." I said to myself ," this is either a nickel or a gold ring."
I scooped up a load of chips and looked in the hole. Gold ring!
It's a 10k with a garnet. Birthstone ring, I suppose. Just as I put it in my pocket, the clouds began to open up again and I took off with my loot. But I'll return soon.
