Got out today to a private home of a friends. He is going into the rental business and is buying up older homes and it loks like I get to check them all out. My finds for the three hours of detecting were 14 wheaties, a 1898 Indian head, a 1952 Rosie, and a 1901 Barber dime. I also dug a luggage or crate badge that says " Great Northern Railway". It is a bit bent so I will post a pic when and if I can staighten it out. HH all.

Got the pic of the Railway tag posted now. Any ideas what this is? It has " W.W.Wilcox & Co, Chicago" on it. It's about 2 1/2" square.

Thats a good days hunting for sure. Boy are you a lucky dog, getting to check out the other houses too that your friend gets.. wohooo I betcha killer finds.

i would recommend not straightening it out. I have heard of older metals breaking under the stress, but, im just a newbie, and hopefully you have experience in this matter :)

Great finds and great future possibilities. Do be careful straightening the tag. Those are good finds for sure. I've broke a nice old spur and a token trying to straighten them out. I'm sure there's a correct way to do it, like maybe heating the metal first, but I'd seak expert advice. Love to see a picture of it.

Sweet finds all around.

Good luck,
HH.

Way to go!!!

Keep it up and I'm sure you'll end up with several days like that one.

For a second I had the WTF look on my face as I thought I saw a www-address on the railroad tag ;D

Nice finds!

Those are some good looking coins! Congratulations! Bob

What a great bunch of digs, Deep!

Must have been a lot of fun.

Keep re-checking those sites as the weather changes, if you can.
Different moisture in the soil may help find more targets.

Congrats!

I found a baggage tag year before last. On one side it says Charlotte to Washington via Danville, Va. and the other it says Washington to Charlotte via Danville Va. I had several different people tell me it could be worth $100-$150. And mine doesn't even have a railroad name on it! You have a super find!!

I would say that tag would have to be a favorite find! :)
