Relic Hunting
I got my dad to come with me, who got me into the hobby and was my relic hunting partner all my life. Today is the first time we've hunted together in around 15 years.
We went to one of our old spots that we hammered for years in the 1990's. New metal detectors, new technology brings up more finds.

8 Dropped yankee miniballs (one found after the picture)
1 Dropped Confederate
1 Eagle Cuff button
1 Rosette

The ground was like digging in brick, and we stopped around lunch it was getting hot.

Going back soon, and I think I found a rifle barrel also, but it's wedged under a huge tree root and I'll need to bring a hatchet to get it out; ground was just too difficult to dig around the root.

So, not a bad day to get him back into the digging addiction...

very awesome and what a great hunt, congrats, hope it is a barrel... post it when you get it out

Nice.
It's awesome to be able to hold that CW history in your own hands. You just have to wonder who fired those rounds, under what circumstances and did they make it through the war.
really nice.

It's a good day any day you snag a few CW bullets. Bet some buttons are hiding in there somewhere. Congrats

That is a great day you and your dad shared. Spend as many with him as you can as each hunt will be a cherished memory.

My dad was digging before I was even born, so I was tagging along with him ever since I can remember. We have been pounding a few civil war sites, and it seems like every time we go we pick up some relics. I wouldn't trade my time with my dad for anything though! I hope y'all make it back to that site soon,HH!

Nice projectiles there, very rare to find any big lead out here, mostly 32 caliber round shots out here for the old stuff. Good luck on the rifle barrel , still hoping for one of those from a field someday but will probably never happen.
