Deer hunted this a.m. over looking this creek and then thought I would stalk up the creek and look for some signs. I said last year I was coming back to this creek to hunt it, I just don't on the norm hunt rocky and sandy creeks, but maybe I have been missing a lot by not hunting those types of creeks, I see a lot of you hunting in those creeks ,it's just hard on the eyes. I think this is a Angostura 1st I have ever found, I almost walked past it. Rodney Hills creek find 001.webpRodney Hills creek find 002.webpRodney Hills creek find 003.webp

That's a nice one...yeah the sandy rocky creeks catch a lot of stuff but you had your good eye on it today! We had a nice day here today and went hiking on the state property across a pasture from mine to check out a creek I didn't know was there until my dog got lost a couple weeks ago and we were hunting for her. This creek is lots narrower than mine and too sandy, I always look on the gravel/pebble bars, so we walked a couple fields there and found nothing but fresh bear tracks so we didn't stay out there too long. Hoping tomorrow when I'm back in my creek I'll find something as nice. Congrats on a great find!

Holy Cow! That's better then a gooden

Hey Monster-- that's a great find!! Good job-- and not easy at all- what with all the leaves down and whatnot. :icon_thumright: HH! Yakker

Good eye big one looks like a leaf ,most of my stalking game hunts are centered around creek hunting hidden slow and quiet no twigs breaking into the deep woods.Fill your tag ?

WOW! Great find.

Looks like that base is heavily ground too. Is it?

There's your Boone & Crockett! To hell with deer hunting after that find. Banner all day!

If that doesn't kickstart you into hunting those gravelly creeks, nothing will.

Oh yeah, that's a real good one. I'm the opposite of you, I will ONLY hunt sandy and/or rocky creeks.

It certainly looks like an Angostura but they didn't commonly cross the Mississippi River until you get north towards Illinois.

Can you post any cleaned up pictures of it, and a thickness shot?

Killer find, congrats

To be dead honest I had never paid much attention to this style always thought it was out of this region. After I got home with it I sent a buddy a photo and he is the one that told me were to look www.projectilepoints.net/points/angostura it's a state data base on points found in Ms., it's also called a Long Point. Here is a clean photo and a side shot, sorry it took so long been on the road and headed back out at 2:30 a.m., I always thought Hardin was out of this area also but I know better now.angostura 001.webpangostura 002.webp

All my creeks are rocky and it's tuff on eyes and back but with my experience you can learn what colors to look for to help most of mine I find in creeks are brown to black so when you narrow it down it does help and they are in there boss that's a super find NOTWORTY !!!!

Nice point! Flaking is not right for Angostura though.

What I have read on the flaking is Oblique Parallel is common, but random flaking is common also by what I read, I don't know for sure, but I'll just call it mine.

Holy Moly! That is an Awesome Find! I have only found a mid section to an Angostura.

Woooh...that's a beautiful one monsterrack :icon_thumright:
