Got out with Marinedad (Mark) this Saturday. My dad, Steve, who has never detected before wanted to see what this hobby was all about so he came along too. Mark was kind enough to bring his (brand new) secondary detector, a white's coinmaster for him to use. After breakfast, we headed to his private recreation club which had a lot of history behind it. Took a tour of the place and then started diggin'. Ground wasn't bad at all, at least compared to the rock frozen stuff I was chipping at a few weeks ago. After about an hour and a half of hunting we changed spots to a nearby boat launch. Had a nice dime signal and when I pulled the plug I saw something silvery... (I had watched enough YouTube videos to know what silver looks like when it sittin there in the hole)... pulled out a '39-D Mercury Dime for my first silver coin ever! About an hour later, followed that up with a 44-D Merc. Thanks to Mark for bringin' me to my first silver!
Totals for the day...
Mark:
3 quarters
3 dimes
4 pennies
1 1953 Wheat
...and some junk
Ted:
1 quarter
5 dimes
11 pennies
3 Wheats - 36, 51-D, 53-D
2 Mercs - 39-D, 44-D
...and some junk
Steve:
1 dime
3 pennies
...and some junk
My finds are on the left, Mark's are on the right and Steve's are across the bottom. Thanks again for a fun hunt Mark!
