A great score for two days.

I got to do a little diggin the past couple days.Like 3 hours yesterday,and found the sweet Mano.

And today I dug for a few hours and scored a Early Triangle & a possible Shell pendent.....Gosh I hope it is!

I like that mano very nice color in it. I know nothing on shells though. What does the base look like on the triangle?

I don't want to sound like an idiot, but what is a "Mano"?

A mano is used with a metate in the grinding of grains and wild grasses, and also dried meat in the making of pemmican. A metate was the bottom flat stone, while the mano was held in the persons hand,and was rubbed or ground against the bottom stone while grinding the grain or dried meat. I hope this helps. NG, Looks to me like that shell was body adornment of some kind. How deep were you, I see some calcifiation on that flint. Thats usually 4-5 k bp or better in your area isn't it? Lone Star

I got these out at about 3-1/2 -4 feet,not sure how long it takes to Calcify,but the Mano has some as well.I was told by a local and knowledgeable collector that the shell looks like it could be a spoon & I have found a worn out spoon at the same site.What ever it is it's rare for me and I am thrilled to have it .Thanx for all the comments ya'll
