A little bit of everything today! Buttons, coins and a nice little bottle! 1865 3 center

Decided to get out today before the weather changes again! Found a 1865 nickel 3 center this is only the 3rd one I've ever found! The bottle is embossed with Dr. Thompsons eye water New London Connt. 1863 fatty indian, 1868 (holed) and one I'm having trouble reading the date. Two small pieces of silver one being a tiny spoon handle with FK IO stamped into it. And a couple of broken arrowheads. Anyone know what type of flint the pinkish on is? Looks like it has fossils in it!

Nice finds! You don’t see 3 cent nickels posted very often. Never found one myself. Congrats!

Great job! Out west in gold camps, small change was non-existent. Wouldn’t buy anything. So I have never found that kind of coinage. We do find III cent silver postage coins. Usually punch to be a button.

Anyone know what type of flint the pinkish on is? Looks like it has fossils in it!

I’m sure it’s heated Burlington. It outcrops right up the road from you in Calhoun and Greene Counties. Go up any holler around Michael or Kampsville and you can find it in the creeks. On the east side of the river near Eldred. The outcrops run all the way into Pike Co and then up into SE IA.

Found alot of Burlington in the past! But can remember very few times where it has the fossil inclusions in it. Thanks

Looks like you had a really great day. Congrats on all your finds. I especially love the 3 cent piece. That coin has always eluded me. Yours appears to be in really good shape. Out of curiousity what did it have for a VDI? Cheers.
