A little help on this (Civil War?) button

This one is about 13-15mm. Got it at an auction in CA. No one seems to be able to I.D. it.

The rifles appear to be patterned on the Model 1903 Springfield, as used on some U.S. military collar disks. Note the stock and bolt.

So, the button is not of the Civil War period.

The "C" and "A" might suggest "C__________ Academy"; however, this button is not in any of the school buttons listings that I've seen.
