A little info please

Found this today at the old house next door about 3 inch deep. I can find the pin but not one with a post like this . is this a WW2 pin ?

It is a type 1 collar disc. This type was in use from 1910 until 1924.

It's a DUI, distinctive Unit Insignia or in layman's terms a unit crest.

Seems to have been from the Engineer Replacement Center, Fort Leonard Wood
(which makes it WWII)
What size is this? Somehow the backing makes me think its a hat badge, just based on the typical screw post size.

Well, Certainly collar sized as Tom said, I don't why it looked bigger to me.

Sure is! Nice that it has local (Missouri) importance too. Another note about the back is that being a unit insignia as Loco explained, the dates don't follow the same timelines as collar discs.
