This is a dog tag stamped Clyde F Goode, Cpl, Co(?) 24th infantry, USA. The reverse is stamped with his serial number. The 24th infantry regiment was a Buffalo Soldier unit comprised of African American enlisted and white officers. They were assigned to General 'Blackjack' Pershing to secure the border from Pancho Villa's forces. All of this about about 6 miles and 103 years from where I'm sitting. Holding a piece of history.
The 24th served with distinction. Hand salute, Corporal Goode.

I love it , it seems ??? it was typed in a hurry.

GREAT SAVE!!!!

Very nice find. Anything where you can put a name, date, place, etc., from years ago puts it all into perspective. At least for me it does. Congrats on the neat relic. :icon_thumleft:

Check his name in FamilySearch.com or Ancestry.com.

Thanks to all you guys that nominated that dog tag for banner. That's some pretty rare air up there at the top of the page and I'm proud to be included.

That’s a find that would have me doing a gold dance. I am the greenest green with envy.

Awesome find, congratulations on making banner!

That is an amazing piece of history. Huge conrats on saving that!

Go to https://ww2tags.org/ , Angelos Angels. She specializes in returning WW-II dog tags. If she cannot help, she may have resources to share with you that may help find a relative. She has helped me return numerous WW-II dog tags to relatives. Wonderul lady.

I was thinking the same thing. I looked for a muster and can't find one. Anybody here research this sort of thing?

I found some records for a Clyde F. Goode, I am not sure if I found the right person or not. If what I found is useful I will post some links or something in the morning, if not I will still let you know anyway. Amazing find!

Well, I was trying to access a couple of websites that I would normally check for information on military people but I my computer wasn't cooperating and the sites wouldn't load so I couldn't even log in. Will try again later.

The 24th Div was inactivated in 2006 out at Ft Riley KA. You may want to Contact the museum there and see if they have any info

Unique - great piece of history saved!
