Hello my fellow T-NETers. Hope you all have been enjoying your hunts and adventures lately. Ive been loving the mild weather here, Low to mid 70s
So the title here will make sense eventually. Yesterday got to my local park and have just been swinging over areas I haven't been yet. There was an old ball field in the 50s and 60s thats gone now. Unfortunately 1/3rd was dug up in the 70s and the other 1/3rd is under a parking lot, so not much of it left at all. After my first hole (pull tab of course) a man rode up on his bike and asked if I found anything yet." Not yet I replied, that was my first hole" He told me last week he found a silver necklace with a diamond charm. "You know people get drunk and you never know what you will find." He wished me luck and rode off and that was it. Kinda cool to meet another detector but an odd interaction at the same time. Just a tad jealous of his "find" So I guess there is some competition around me after all.
Anyways my fifth hole out pops this awesome little locket. Thought it was a pull tab at first but it was way too thick. It was a great way to start the morning. It rarely happens for me to get something right away. Unfortunately its not silver, just aluminum I think. No markings whatsoever just the inscribed "E" or "F" I cant really tell. My wife's name starts with an E, so its hers now and we'll stick with an "E"

With the excitement of that find I just dug everything, trying to beep and dig as fast as I could. Tons of clad and trash until this pops out. Ill say I really like finding local history. Brasco Copper Store Front Distributed by WM. F. Zummach Milwaukee Wisc. Not sure what it came off, awning or display case? The company started in the mid 1800s. Your guess on age is as good as mine. I found an add from 1912 from the same company in Chicago.
After that more pull tabs, clad and wheat number 1 for the day. Now here is where my heart got broken. Digging a shallow pull tab signal and I see this staring back at me... "Dont be junk, Please DONT BE JUNK" I must have said it 10 times over...
Utterly disappointed at finding this kids vending machine junker. Almost rather it had been a pull tab. Oh well, maybe someday a real one will find my coil.

Kept swinging and found this "thing" about 7 inches down, not too far from the "Gold" ring. Do you know what it is? I sure dont. Maybe part of a lock? There is no markings anywhere on it. The Half Dollar is for reference. I took pics of both sides. There was a building not too far from where I found it, that is long gone now.

The day slowed way down with more clad and pull tabs after that. Another wheat, number 2 for the day. Kept swinging until I got to the car. Nothing left to show for it after that last wheat. 1941 and 1949 on the pennies. Even with the disappointment of the ring I enjoyed the weather and the breeze
Ill be out this weekend for sure. Maybe the Gold will pop out then.

Ok I got out on fathers day last weekend and found more local history. This awesome 1920s or so brass advertisement pin. Made the hunt last weekend. It was about 6 inches from the curb where I parked my car. Pitcairn Varnish Co. Here is an add I found online. Milwaukee is the first city mentioned in the add. Unfortunately I cant find any info other than that.
Thanks for taking a look. As always good luck out there and happy hunting!
