A Nice Head's Up from the Teller
I stopped and asked for halves. The teller say "no rolls, and only one loose." The other teller chimes in "we have some $1000 bags from the coin machine." My heart rate jumped a bit and I said, "I would take a bag or two." (Of course when he said "some" I did think dump, but was willing to take a chance on them.)
The first teller then says to me "realize that these were filled because we have a customer who searches 50 cent pieces for valuable ones and brings us the ones he doesn't want." I said I would let them know if I wanted a whole bag or not and took a card from them.
From this, I now know that that bank probably does not have a policy against selling bags - since they offered it. I'll check other branches to see if I can buy bags off of the coin machine. I'll ask how often they fill up to get an idea if they are dumps or not.
