Relic Hunting
I started the day out going to do some relic hunting. I ended up at a house site that I had permission to hunt. As I knocked on the door, a nice little old lady answered the door. I introduced myself, she pointed out to me where several house sites had been and told me stories pertaining to her property. She told me to feel free to hunt anywhere I wanted. I started my hunt within fifty yards of her back door. Within ten minutes, I had already dug about 20 targets, mostly odd and end trash and jar lids. Then I got a BIG BANG! I pushed my shovel into the ground and as I pulled it back, the dirt clot opened up and I saw the edge of a silver coin. I stopped and went to her door and asked her to come and see what I had found. I let her pick the coin up, it was a 1942 S Walking Liberty that is beautiful! The little lady is 90 years old and she was tickled to death to see this beautiful coin. We oowed and ahwed over it, she went in to get her magnifying glass out so we could get a better look at it. As I went back to hunting, I dug several more targets and then the next big sound that I heard was the Standing Liberty with a Flying Eagle on the back. This is the tale of the day that I spent with 3 ladies and what a day it was! Sorry for all the photos, but I hope you enjoy them. HH

oh man you made some smokin finds. the silvers are outstanding and the chevy grill emblem and the little race car are really sweet.

That old race car is great! I love old coins like everyone else here but, that car is killer!

Nicely done!:icon_thumright: Please tell us how you go about asking permission to hunt, and what kind of deal (if any) you arrange with the land owner. I'm not shy but I would not know where to start!:icon_scratch:

You made her day and made some great finds! Way To Go! :icon_thumleft: I like the story and pictures.
What part of Mid-Tenn are you in? I am close to Murfreesboro.

Wow, looks like a fun hunt. :icon_thumright: Congrats on the nice relics and silver!

This particular spot started by my wife going to church on Sunday. This little lady lives in the area in a good location and I asked my wife to mention me hunting her property when they were at church and she said that I could come any time I wanted to. Upon me arriving there today, she told me that if I found a million dollars that she would like half of it. I told her that she could have three quarters of it and I would take a quarter of it! In most cases, any property that I have hunted the owners do not ask for any of my finds although I would be happy to share any of my finds with them. Just go out and knock on some doors or go to church. HH
