A Tennessee "Dream" Weekend

Sorry folks, not the State of Tennessee; the Tennessee Volunteers basketball teams.

This past Saturdau eight of us drove from Nashville to Chattanooga to board on of 4 buses and traveled to Athens, GA to watch the Tennessee men play the Georgia Bulldogs.

The first photo is some pudgy guy who is "supposedly" losing weight. I'm told he actually is; just isn't showing yet.

04 That\'s me.webp

This next photos is the Volunteer's premier men's player, Chris Lofton, scoring a three. Can you find the ball?

10 3 for Loftin.webp

Here's a photo of Coach Bruce Pearl with the team during a timeout.

And of course, a shot of the scoreboard after the game.

13 Turn out the lights, the party\'s over.webp

After the game we hung around for the post-game radio show before boarding the buses and heading back home.

18 Listening to Bruce at the Postgame radio show.webp

On Sunday, 7 of us then met at Memorial Gymnasium to watch the Lady Vols play Vanderbilt.

Here's the start of the game:

02 The game begins.webp

And a shot of the Lady Vols' premier player, Candace Parker, shooting a three. It's a bit harder but can you find the ball in this photo?

05 Candace Parker scores a 3.webp

And a shot of Coach Pat Summit, her staff, and the team during a timeout:

And finally, the final score. "Turn out the lights, the party's over!"

08 The final score.webp

And to top it off, I was home in time to watch the final 14 laps of the Daytona 500!

Re: A Tennessee "Dream" Weekend

Re: A Tennessee "Dream" Weekend

Ya know Wes some of that success you guys are having, you can thank Iowa for. Bruce pearl was an assistant here at one time. He has turned in to a great coach. So when you guys win us Iowa folks are happy for you.Didn't you guys get an Iowa transfer in a good player who I think was Tyler Smith? Great pictures of some neat fun.

Re: A Tennessee "Dream" Weekend

Van,

We got a real "Pearl" when we got him...along with Tyler.

Re: A Tennessee "Dream" Weekend

Wes it looked like the Tenn shirt you have on said Tenn Pearl. Pretty cool statement. Tyler left Iowa when Steve Alford left . He missed being close to Family. It hurt Iowas team a bunch. He really played well when he was here at Iowa. Enjoy him Wes because we miss him. Iowa is in a rebuilding stage and hopefully the best is yet to come.Bruce Pearl is well respected here in Iowa, and from what I have heard was sought after for the opening that Alfords leaving left but oppted to stay at Tenn. Its good to see the success that he is having..

Re: A Tennessee "Dream" Weekend

Good eye Van.

The shirt indeed says "Tennessee Pearl" with an open shell and pearl below.

Tennessee has never been ranked higher than #4 before this week and I'm hoping after Saturday night it'll be #1 but they'll have to play a great game to pull it off!

Re: A Tennessee "Dream" Weekend

Wesfrye, Pearl has become the man!!!

Have you seen this one yet.

Yep JARMAN, I have. He may have messed up with the discipline this time around...seems the name "Colquitt" has some clout.

Well your wish came true wes...Congrats on being #1....was actually thinking about you at the end of the game....just checking in to see if you re-injured the knee jumping up and down.. ;D

Re: A Tennessee "Dream" Weekend

Thanks Copper!

No, I couldn't jump up and down last night; a certain part of my anatomy was puckered up so tight I couldn't move! :o

Now the real test starts as everyone will be "gunning" for you!

And NO! NO! NO!...you can't have Bruce! ;)

Re: A Tennessee "Dream" Weekend

You guys like Chris Lofton??

You ought to see what it's like around here where I live?

This used to Wildcat country, however, since Lofton is from our hometown, Tenn gets more attention than the wildcats do..

Go Figure...........see ya mark

Re: A Tennessee "Dream" Weekend

Well, I imagine the fact that Kentucky didn't have the time of day for Chris might explain some of that!
