Minelab SE Professional with 6" Coil
My wife was cleaning house today. In order to help her, I left and went detecting. :tard:

I was at a loss for places to go and ended up at our city park. The park has been there since the middle 1800's, but has been blasted by detectors and people trashing it up. I had a very hard hunt, with little to show, but I thought since I dug it all and cleaned it up, I should go ahead and post what I found:

I bet this cap is pretty old....kinda cool. (Yeah, I know...I suck.) :-[

One of the first pulltabs made....even before ring tabs. Told ya the place is old.

Check out the shells. That one is necked down to about a 22 caliber bullet with a tremendous powder charge. Long range for sure.

Here are the bottom stamps to each respective shell. There is a guard armory right next to the park. Not hard to realize how these ended up here.

This is copper. Anyone know what it is? I know it is an old lid; it appears to be super old. ???

Left Park and went to a school. Hunted wood chips for awhile to relieve the stress. I found a ring, but don't think it is too valuable. Here are those pics:

that is a pretty cool old bottle cap. you don't usually see the old ones anymore

I've had days like that.

The necked down shell could be a 17 rem which is a 223 caseing necked down to a 17mm. Also the germans used a training Mauser that chambered a center fire caseing necked down to a 22.

Thanks brotha, I guess we all do now and then.

fireman,
Cool man! Thanks for the information. Happy Hunting bro.

Give the zipper pull to ME. I don't remember seeing a blue on in his collection. ;D ;D ;D ;D

Nice collection of intresting finds.
Ring looks cool even if not Valuable.

The necked down shell is a 7.62 NATO Blank. It is necked down like that to get more bang from your powder. The other shell looks to be a 30-06 Blank. Both are used for military ceremonies.

Hey GRB,
well, least ya got to get out and dig instead of staying home HELPING... hardy har har cleaning....but the ring is neat, is it sterling???got any markings??? I like that one.. You can have all the rest ..lol..

Looks like one of my hunts minus the ring.LOL Thanks for the reality post. But you still had fun.....right? D.D.

Ditto on as Ive had hunts like this The brass lid looks like a compac makeup lid...I ve hunted parks like this and if I'm findin old trash I bank on old coins still there ..H-Hunting.. Bill

I think the long neck casing is a blank for training purposes. But I do remember when I was in the reserves we fired M-16s that had been converted to fire 22 caliber rounds on the indoor range. That might be one of those.

Nice ring and of course ZIPPER PULL!!!!!!!
