Google Earth opens the door to desktop treasure hunting!
Until recently, only wealthy individuals and companies had access to global, high resolution aerial imagery. Google Earth brings that technology to the masses with an easy to use, sophisticated desktop image browser. Using Google Earth, you can zoom into a point on earth, place a "placemark", then share that placemark with others. It's brilliant.
Anyone can begin finding old roads, and other areas of historical interest... right now.
This forum (X Marks the Spot!) is intended to be used to post these placemarks - known as ".kml" files."
Simply use Google Earth, then "export" your .kml (NOT .kmz) file. Then attach that file to your post here at TreasureNet.
Please don't post here without attaching a Google Earth ".kml" file!
Here's more info.
You can download Google Earth here...
http://earth.google.com/download-earth.html
Thanks!
