sorry should have explained it is wafer thin stamped bronze, nor sturdy enough for that

Is it robust enough to be the cover for an ashtray? With the square in the centre serving as a stub-plate and the holes around it for butts to drop into a receptacle underneath.

it is light and delicate , the square in the middle broke iff as soon as I took it out of the ground, it seems like it must have been mounted on wood or something, maybe furniture decoration?
