Everyone, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled in favor of four folks who objected to being charged for hiking on public lands. This may be the end of the Adventure Pass requirement. We'll see if the Forest Service appeals the decision to the U.S. Supreme Court.

YEEEESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!
we shouldn't be charged to use OUR land. The adventure pass is BS.

This land is your land, this land is my land, from California, to the New York Islands......

still required for angeles mountains but they have a deal going buy one annual at regular price get a second for $5 reg$30 good for a year

The Forest Service has not updated their website recently, it only references the original suit brought and dismissed in District Court, which we now know was appealed to 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and overturned. The only problem with the 9th "Circus" is that if and when the U.S. Supreme Court takes one of their cases (it doesn't take many cases), there is a whopping 94% rate of overturn (straight from my professor's mouth). Another problem, the rulings of the 9th "Circus" only apply to those states/territories within its jurisdiction. Any other circuit does not have to comply with the ruling. For this case, works just fine, as the four locations requiring the Adventure Passes all fall within the courts' jurisdiction.

I don't know what the big problem is? $30 a year for an Adventure Pass that helps support maintenance of campsites, toilets, etc? Only a COMPLETE MOOCH would have a problem with that.

I have a lot of issues with the USFS and BLM (as well as Cal Ecofags), but I look at the Adventure Pass as my little contribution to maintaining the places I like to spend so much time in.

Best - Mike

I always figured that I pay 30 bucks for the extorsion pass was a no brainer if the funds went to keeping the public places (restrooms and such) nice. Now my question is im getting ready to start slucing (non power) in azusa canyon (have never been there before just doing my research), so do I need some sort of "pass" to park or camp in that area? East Fork Road - the area where the road turns into a parking lot. ive only seen the place in pictures and google earth maps. And if I do need a 'pass' for the area ... anyone know where I can pick one up. Used to purchase the extorsion pass at REI. Anyone know?

yea I went there today... the Adventure Pass is still alive and well. I had to purchase a day use pass. but will purchase an annual pass.. like I have always done in the past. Too bad they dont use some of those funds for clean-up... east fork road and river had tons of trash in and around it.. mostly used diapers, and plastic water and gatoraide bottles. The worst part is that there are trash recepticles everywhere along the road. ????? I dont get it.
Cheers
Vince.

I have to disagree with you. We pay taxes for everything under the sun. I think the state should manage its money better. I don't think it should cost extra to use our land. The great outdoors are there for all of us. Many of the places I like to visit don't have restrooms, campsites, or even trash cans. Yet I'm still required to have an adventure pass to go there.

It's just as ridiculous as paying DFG for my fishing license and a hunting license and a deer tag, and an upland game bird stamp, and my pig tag,....... all for animals that live in the wild, and it cost DFG NOTHING for nature to do it's job.
