Advice appreciated. (Newbie)

am very new to all this. I dug all these out of the creek behind my house. They all came out of a hole that is 2 x 2 x 2. I have been panning and haven't found any gold. Looking at these stones, is there anyway to tell if this is a good area to find gold. I have also found many garnets and magnetite in the same hole.

Magnetite and garnets are generally heavier than the streambed material . If there is gold there, it should probably be found with them. Has gold been found in your area ? Are you on bedrock ?

I'm not on bedrock. I was looking here becuase there were two placer mines within a 5 mile radius of this stream. This is an underground spring that has never been touched.

That's some nice looking quartz. Doesn't look like river gravel. But who knows. Post some more pictures. I wanna see the garnets and magnetite.

I'm not sure what this is, but it isn't magnetic. Also, a rock with garnets on it.

I found all of this under a layer of sand, but I haven't found gold or the bottom of the stream bed.

Well keep digging. Your into an area with heavy minerals however your primarily finding massive quartz, first picture, garnet and what could be hematite, smoky quartz, tourmaline in subsequent pictures. I am not seeing anything to indicate gold myself but gemmy stuff~ most gems will pan out due to higher density. Nice Garnet cluster though. *last picture* Thing about gold is it likes to sit on the bottom, heavy, but many other minerals will show up in a pan if your carefull and know what your looking for.

Test panning is the best way to tell if you have a good area to find gold. The fact that placer gold has been found nearby is a good indicator.
The other indicator is that you are finding minerals and placer gold is often found in relation to garnet. I would say dig deeper and look for small flecks of gold when you are down to mostly black sand in the pan.

If you are not an experienced panner it's easy to overlook fine gold by only expecting to see nuggets.

*An underground spring is less likely to contain gold washed into it from a deposit but not impossible. Just less likely.

A spring is a natural fluid bed and any gold may be deep into it. But it can also deposit placer gold around it. Depends on the flow path. If it comes up from deep strata it probably won't have gold. But if it's flowing down over bedrock from higher ground and then emerging it will carry some gold.

There's one guy up in the U.P. that is placering a spring and getting some good gold there. I've found a couple of the second type in Door County, but the mouths are in State Parks.
